Arkle

What We Do

Arkle Resources PLC (‘Arkle Resources’) is an AIM listed company focussed on creating shareholder value through gold and zinc exploration and resource development in Ireland.

The company was established in 2004 by veterans John Teeling and James Finn, with over 40 years’ experience gained in the exploration and mining industry in Ireland and elsewhere. The company gained admission to the London Stock Exchange in 2007, and subsequently discovered the Stonepark zinc deposit with, then joint venture partner, Teck Ireland Ltd.

In recent years, Arkle has been able to form a significant block of licences at the Mine River Gold Project in south County Wicklow and and northern County Wexford. It is also the first company to drill for gold in Donegal, at the Inishowen Gold Project, with a significant discovery in the third drill hole.

The company holds interests in 28 prospecting licences throughout Ireland, of which 17 are 100% owned.  Joint venture partners, Teck Ireland Ltd. and Group Eleven Resources Corp., have earned in on the remainder.

Arkle Resources is well placed to benefit from increasing interest in exploration in a part of the world where political risk is low, where new gold projects and mines are being developed, and where there is a solid track record of successful zinc mining, including the world’s 11th largest zinc mine at Boliden Tara.

Why Ireland?

Ireland is one of the most prospective countries in the world for zinc and produces 25% of Europe’s total production.  The country has a 60 year history of zinc mining (Tara, Tynagh, Silvermines, Galmoy and Lisheen) and has attracted major zinc producers such as Boliden, Glencore and Teck who are currently active, and in the past Anglo American, Lundin and Vedanta.

Ireland is an emerging gold mining jurisdiction, with planning permission currently being sought to develop a world-class gold mine in County Tyrone.  A small-scale gold mine has been permitted and is currently operating in south County Tyrone.  Arkle Resources has had early drilling success at its 100% Inishowen Gold Project in neighbouring County Donegal.  The company is also active on its 100% owned Mine River Gold Project located in Wicklow and Wexford.

Ireland is a stable jurisdiction, has a favourable tax regime, a skilled workforce and good infrastructure.  It is ranked highly in Europe and globally in terms of mining and exploration investment attractiveness.

Our Vision

Our vision is for Arkle Resources to be regarded as the leading junior gold and base metals explorer in Ireland, as a preferred investment and as a preferred joint venture partner.

Our objective is to create shareholder value by exploring in Ireland, one of the most prospective countries in the world for zinc and lead (as well as Europe’s largest producer) and where recent developments on gold projects have attracted the interest of major investment. Additionally, our objective is to be joint venture partner of choice for larger mining companies and investment funds, and enter into such agreements when this is beneficial to our shareholders while maintaining focus on our core competencies.

We will keep a flat, low-cost organisational structure and maintain a balance of 100% owned and joint venture projects. We will use our reputation and knowledge to continue to access ground prospective for both base and precious metals, and be alert to emerging opportunities, adapting our strategies accordingly.
